Hi y'all. Today's hike was pretty epic for me. I'll have more to say about it a little later, but I thought I'd better post this because otherwise Tim Barry won't have anything to respond to.
Today was fun. A little bit of a disappointment that there was no snow, but one big advantage of getting what Mr. Harrington calls the best view in San Diego. It was cold, the air was crisp and refreshing, and my nose was running and freezing. Although Mr. Aiston couldn't make it today, the reason why was quite legitimate: his wife was having a baby (or at least about to). Apart from the lack of snow, teacher's wife having a baby, and the nearly complete failure to catch the last of the chocolate chip cookies, we noticed some men in full camouflage. I even walked right by one without even noticing his existence. I guess the camo does its job pretty well. Finishing it off with a blue rock at the top of a mountain half the class opted against climbing, and an hour-long bus ride back to school (it was an hour, right?), thus ended the penultimate session of our interim class. I then got to wait another 45 minutes to be taken home.
Today we did the most hiking yet. Im very sore but not with out good reason, that hike to the top of Garnet peak, and along the meadow and stream up in the Lagunas. The view form the peak was the most expansive I've ever seen from the ground, Arizona and the Saltine Sea to the wast and the California coast to the West, those who stayed on the bus really missed out. The only disappointing factor today was the lack of snow, though it didn't make the experience any less enjoyable. HOpefully there will be some tomorrow in Julian. Aside from the soreness, and lack of snow an overall great day.
today was probably my favorite day. Although i still have yet to lay my eyes on freshly fallen snow, the fields and the view were nothing short of spectacular. The random army guys added in a bit of comedy and mystery throughout our mountain adventure, and the cold was battled through easily. I think i enjoyed today so much because we were the farthest away from highways and people, it really felt like we were going into the wild. Even though i think we were all a little sore and tired today, i thought everyone powered through really well, and everyone had a great time. Hopefully tomorrow will be a great end to an awesome week!
Today was very fun and refreshing with the cold weather. Although I was pretty disappointed with the lack of snow, it was a fun day overall. We started off with a nice hike with the occasional sighting of a navy man. To be honest, i'm still a little creeped out. After that hike we headed up to Garnet Peak where the view was breathtaking. It was so high up that i was a little scared while I was up there but looking back on it, the hike was definitely worth it. Its too bad the bus driver didn't make it. We all missed Mr. Aiston but I couldn't be happier for him!! I hope baby Lily likes the video we made her! I am very excited for tomorrow with the possibilities of apple pie and snow!
Happy Birthday Lily!Today was a great day for our interim class. Garnet peak was really a sight to see. I am so glad I took the extra time to make it to the top. I was very happy to SHARE the expiriences and happiness with other classmates in our interim. In the past four days, my newest expiriences with nature and trancendentalism have made me look at things from a new perspective. One thing that I have decided is that I do not want to sit behind a desk all day at my job. I want to get out there, and experience what the world has to offer. And lastly, being at the to of Garnet Peak was the ultimate reflecting spot.
I was so prepared for a snow ball fight today! Oh well.. it was fun anyhow! I liked how the hike was so scenic. The open fields reminded me of a Monet painting. I loved the feeling of being secluded from the hectic highways, roads, and hikers (other than the army men who were quite rude but obviously on some top secret mission). I thought that there was some snow on top of the trees but was later told by Mr.Harrington that there was some sort of deathly beetle turning the trees white. What a joke! :) That was later proved wrong when we felt ice falling from the trees. Today's hike was a bit chilly but I got really hot on the way up to the summit. I enjoyed eating my lunch on a comfortable rock formation while watching some of the more adventurous members. The view was gorgeous and I really liked the bigger trees. After the climb down, I was tired so I decided to sit the second hike out. It was a fun experience that included watching the bus driver fidget and linger (I think he was too hyped up on his Mountain Dew) and also playing Angry Birds. I took a little nap on the bus and before I knew it we were back at school! I had fun today and I hope tomorrow will be a great end to a amazing week.
Today was pretty crazy ... i mean me and malea rode a bald eagle when the others went on that second hike ... nbd ... but overall i thought today went well, even though it was freezing cold at the beginning , as the hike went on I got warmer and could start to enjoy the view! This week was an amazing interim week and i wish i could be there tomorrow :( i hope you guys have fun and that malea masters her extreme skipping (: LOVE YOU GUYS <3
This hike was my favorite so far. I really like hiking in cold weather. It sort of reminded me of Utah when it's all snowy outside and you're eyes water and you can't feel your face! When we hit our resting spot and sat an that big rock i was FREEZING and alex h discovered a warmer spot down behind the rock so we all climbed down there and listened to trey songs ! The ice on the trees was fun to knock off unless i was sitting under and mr. h was trying to dump it on us !! Also the highlight of my day was using nature as my toilet. Peeing in the woods with miss gallop was one of the most hilarious and exciting experiences ever. I will never forget it.
Im super bummed my girl saige wont be here today but it's all good because we've got the power group. Can't wait for a great day !!!!!
